About Me

Editor by day and baker by night, weekend, and any other time I can fit it in, I'm a sugar junkie. Let's just say that if there’s a cake gene, I’ve got it. Several of my great, great aunts and uncles worked in bakeries in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore, MD, my French great-grandma passed down many wonderful recipes, and my grandma is a first-class baker and cook (crab cakes are her specialty). Also, when my sisters and I were young, my mom baked our birthday cakes and our dad decorated them. And Christmas cookies? Mom turned our house into Santa's bakery in December and my sisters and I were her happy elf helpers.

So here I am, back in Baltimore (I grew up in Lancaster County but just couldn't stay away from the city where I was born and went to college), following a long-standing family tradition.
